Christianity and Homeschooling: The Power of Spiritual Growth In Home school - Growing Up With God
By Mimi Rothschild

A home school child grows up with God spiritually. He can grow physically in this world but there is nothing which can match the spiritual growth and well-being. Your child's perspective about God changes with times and physical growth. When the home school child grows spiritually prayers and communication with God, he begins to recognize the invaluable source of happiness and peace in life which can only come through Him.

Let's look at how the home school child can grow with God. From 0 to 2 years, you make the home school child acquire the feeling of trust and love whenever you hold him in your arms and gently nurse or play with him. He sees you praying to God and starts to copy the way you pray to the Lord. Slowly, he forms a deep, underlying relationship with God as he grows up. He understands with vivid interest as you tell him short stories from the Bible.

Between the age of 3 and 4, the home school child learns about God's divine presence and seeks the blessing of God through prayers and simple songs. He understands what conscience is and how he should act in good faith with conscience. The home school child learns about Bible verses and also comes to know about Jesus and His love.

When home school children are between the ages of 5 and 6, they are ready to believe that Jesus is their friend and a benefactor for life. He knows that Jesus saves and forgives. The home school child grows up spiritually and knows why the son of God came to Earth and why He endured all the sufferings with a smile for the sake of man's sins.

Between ages 7 and 8, as the child grows up with God, the home school child understands the value of asking questions. Children get inquisitive and get in the mindset of getting their questions answered. Have them answered through the Scriptures and parables from the Bible. The home school child comes to know that the Bible is the book of eternal truth. Jesus bore the sins of man in a cross and was resurrected to make man aware about eternal life.

Between the ages of 9 and 10, the home school child begins to think deeply and spiritually. He forms an opinion about what is right and wrong. He becomes aware of Jesus working with him and inside him to be a better human being.

Between the ages of 11 and 14, as the child continues to grow up with God, the home school child matures in body and spirit. He looks at spiritualism and asks the “what if” questions. What if Jesus hadn't come to the Earth? What if Jesus had shown the people who put him on the cross that he had superhuman powers to reveal himself as the son of God? He searches for God in a bigger way. He can find help in a preacher or an older Christian who can help him find answers correctly.

The home school child looks up to the Bible for his spiritual answers. Keep a keen watch on your home school child as he develops spiritually. The home school is one of the best platforms to make your child recognize the glory of God.
