K-12 Christian Online Home Schooling with The Grace Academy

TECHNICAL ISSUES AND COMPUTERS

What kind of computer and Internet access do I need?
The Grace Academy online homeschool has been designed to work well with a wide range of computers. The minimum requirements are: a Pentium III processor, 64K RAM, 6 gig hard drive, floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, and a 56K modem or faster connection.

Will your program work with a Macintosh?
We cannot guarantee that our online home education software will run on a Mac. However, you are welcome to try, as several of our homeschool families have done so successfully in the past. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we suggest that our homeschool families use Windows-based computers.

If I enroll more than one homeschooler, do they each need their own computer?
It is not essential for homeschool students to have their own computer dedicated to school work. As long as homeschool students log in and out appropriately, two homeschoolers can easily share the same computer, using it at different intervals throughout the day.

How can I read PDF (Acrobat) files?
You need the free Acrobat reader.

Can I print out the lessons for review while off the Internet?
You can print off lessons for homeschool students who prefer not to read from a computer screen. However, you may not distribute these materials and you must ensure that they are for use by the enrolled homeschool student only.

How can I check the progress of my homeschool student?
Homeschool Parents have access to a “real-time” progress report so that they can check up on how their homeschooler is doing throughout the year. Just log in to your parent page.

Do you need to be able to type in order to complete the work?
Homeschool students who are already adept at typing are at an advantage, but homeschool students can easily use the “hunt and peck” style of typing until they become more familiar manipulating a keyboard.

What can I do to make certain that I get all important e-mail messages?
Follow the directions in "Staying in Touch", available on our Downloads page.
