Homeschool Parents' Role with The Grace Academy
In The Grace Academy homeschool program, parents are always in control of their homeschool er's education. Parents are the child's first and foremost teacher. The Grace Academy exists to provide alternative educational opportunities for children who cannot or choose not to attend a traditional school. Parents are commanded in the Scriptures to "train up a child in the way he should go." While we provide intensive educational assistance, the responsibility of the child's educational experience rests primarily on the parent's shoulders. Parents play an integral role in their child's education. Along with providing daily supervision, they may supplement their homeschooler's education with a variety of important and interesting activities, appropriate to their homeschooler's unique abilities. The homeschooler's week should not consist of just hours in front of a computer. The parent should take an active role in the child's education, whether this means taking the student to a museum or providing opportunities for socialization at a local homeschool co-op.
We want to equip every parent in their God-given responsibility to tend to the physical, intellectual and spiritual needs of their children. We understand that not every parent will be able to teach their child calculus or Spanish. This is why we provide access to our academic counselors that have expertise in specific subject areas. Students have instant access to our Math teachers when they need help with a tricky problem. Our teachers love to help students work through their courses and have been extensively trained to provide assistance over the internet.
